The starting point

An invitation to speak is only part of the picture.

People notice what happens after someone disagrees, admits a mistake or asks for help. The response can make the next contribution easier or harder.

This proposed workshop brings the physiology and felt experience of safety into a practical leadership conversation. It explores internal responses alongside behaviour, power and the conditions people work in.

The aim is not to train people to feel comfortable in an unsafe environment. It is to help leaders notice what they are creating and practise responding differently.

Proposed workshop focus

01

Notice the experience

Explore the sensations, thoughts and impulses that arise when contributing feels welcome, uncertain or risky.

02

Practise the response

Work with everyday moments: receiving challenge, responding to a mistake and making room for someone whose view differs from your own.

03

Change the conditions

Identify meeting habits, leadership responses and team agreements that could make it easier to contribute honestly.
